The German Hunting and Fishing Museum is a museum for culture, art and natural history. Interactive elements, taxydermical objects, paintings, trophies, rifles and many other exhibits demonstrate the art of hunting and fishing and its impact on environment and human culture likewise. Three areas with different departments focus on topics from the historical hunt to hunting and fishing today. On the ground floor the "forest path" with its dioramas offers visitors the possibility to virtually explore German wildlife. The fishing department concentrates not only on ancient fishing devices, rods, paintings and hooks, but also on water ecology and different specimen of fish. In the so called "White Hall" are different hunting objects displayed along with trophies and various paintings.
The museum is located in the former Augustinian church right in the center of Munich and is one of the world’s largest in its field. Next to permanent exhibitions the museum offers changing special exhibitions.
